Birthday celebration
Due to a combination of other family holidays, I took a paid day off on the day of my mother’s birthday to celebrate.
Since the COVID-19 disaster, we have not had many opportunities to eat out as a family, so we selected a slightly expensive meat course lunch in response to my mother’s request. (*Compared to our family).
We were seated side by side, and since we were eating in silence, we all silently stared at the chef working on the iron plate in front of us, adjusting his cooking skills to the requested degree of doneness.
He must have been under a lot of pressure… He had a grim look on his face with wrinkles on his brow throughout the cooking.
After the meal, he asked us, “Did the food suit your palate? After the meal, when he asked me if the food suited my palate, he had a fresh smile that I could see through his mask, so I don’t think he was a difficult person to talk to.
Once the food was placed on the plate and prepared in front of us, everyone in the family, including me, started eating right away like a dog being told to “wait…okay! I was amazed at how quickly the plates emptied like a magic trick when I looked to the side.
When dessert was served after the meal, a birthday plate was prepared for us, and the restaurant kindly took our family photo.
All the dishes were very delicious and my mother was very satisfied with the food, so I am glad we chose this restaurant.
After lunch, we went shopping around to select a gift for my mother, and after much agonizing, we decided on a gift.
Afterwards, we walked a little further to our favorite cake shop to buy a birthday cake and went home and had cake instead of dinner.
※I personally think all of the cakes from this store are overpriced with no disappointments, so if you’re in Osaka, you’re in for a treat!
We do cherish family events such as birthdays and other family events, but I have never been able to celebrate my mother’s birthday with my family for a whole day, even though I have personally traveled with my mother to celebrate. I felt grateful again that we were allowed to take a day off.
I’m going to make sure I work my ass off for all the time I’ve been given off!
The next day, I was afraid that I would be overflowing with work… but my fears were unfounded as the senior staff followed up with me.
I myself did my best to follow up with others when they took a day off, just as I was helped this time. I would like to continue to maintain an environment where the entire department cooperates with each other to make it easy to take a day off and work without delay even if I take a day off.
I want to lead a fulfilling life both on and off the job. is my goal in life.
By the way, I looked at the family photo and it showed a very rounded figure, so I will start working on it today for the October physical….
I don’t think I will be able to take a nice photo like the ones you all have up on office signage yet. This is my goal by the end of the year.
